AI as a Tutor: Learning Quaternions with ChatGPT

Summary & Key Takeaways

  • Matt Webb used ChatGPT to learn about quaternions for his app, Galactic Compass 2.
  • He found ChatGPT to be a patient and interactive tutor.
  • This allowed him to grasp concepts he struggled with through traditional methods.
  • The experience suggests AI can push individuals to learn more, not less.
  • AI's role extends beyond code generation to personalized education.

Our Commentary

This is a refreshing perspective. So much talk focuses on AI replacing coders, but this shows it augmenting our learning capabilities. I've definitely used LLMs to quickly grasp concepts I'd otherwise spend hours Googling or sifting through documentation for. It's like having a super-patient expert on call.
